Beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, and a touch of history combine to make the Andamans a great choice for a relaxing, enjoyable vacation, replete with long excursions, lazing about in the island backwaters, and, for the more courageous, deep-sea diving. The Andamans have something for everyone, from the multicultural metropolis of Port Blair to the pure white beaches of Havelock Islands and the limestone caverns of Diglipur. You can also find resorts in Andaman easily. This Andaman tourist guide includes information on all of this and much more.

How to reach Andaman?

The Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair provides direct flights to all of India’s main cities. Despite the lack of direct international flights, the islands are easily accessible from any of India’s major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and others.

While travelling to the Andaman and Nicobar islands by sea would be a long voyage, it is nonetheless an experience that some visitors would like to add to their bucket lists. Ships from Kolkata, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam would take roughly 66 hours to reach the islands, while ships from Visakhapatnam would take up to 56 hours.

Best time to Visit Andaman

With mild temperatures all year, the islands may be visited at any time of year, save during the monsoon season. From January to May is the best season to visit Andaman. Due to severe rainfall and bad weather conditions, the months of June and July should be avoided. Even if there are periodic showers from August to November, this might be an excellent season to visit the Andaman and Nicobar. Due to significant rainfall, December and early January should be avoided once more.

Places to visit in Andaman

  • Havelock Island has a picture-perfect appearance because of its clear blue seas and white sand beaches fringed with mahua trees. Havelock is an escape into adventure and scenic beauty, with extensive hikes and interesting backwaters.
  • The Limestone Caves are located in the Northern Andamans and are a must-see attraction. Your adventure will be enthralling as it takes you through tribal reserves. Sun-bathing crocodiles may also be seen in the area’s mangrove woodlands, where they are wonderfully disguised.
  • The capital Port Blair of Andaman, is the largest town and the point of entry for all of the other islands. So, most likely, your journey will begin here.
  • This tranquil island invites you to its coral reefs, peaceful beaches, and diverse animals. There are still a few pristine beaches in the area for an evening date with your partner, or better yet, with nature itself.

Things to do in Andaman Nicobar

Scuba diving, snorkelling, jet-skiing, sea walks, and speedboat rides are all available here. The following are some things you should not miss while visiting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands:

  • Many individuals do not attempt it because they believe that learning how to swim is crucial, but this is far from the case. Swimming abilities are required only if you wish to undertake the more difficult levels of scuba and venture out into the open seas.
  • Riding a banana boat is another exciting and entertaining activity to do in Andaman. To get a rush, six people can ride the banana-shaped boats that are tied behind a speedboat at the same time. It is a completely safe pastime as long as you wear your life jackets and follow the directions.
  • Try parasailing to get your adrenaline pumping. This activity is unique among Havelock Island activities since it combines water and flying experiences. You get to soar like a kite behind the boat as it rushes off into the sea, tied to a parachute. It’s surely one of the most wonderful things to do on Andaman Island.
  • Taking flight on a Pawan Hans aircraft is one of the unique things to do in Port Blair, Andaman. You may enjoy this one-of-a-kind journey while travelling from Port Blair to Havelock or back.

Also, don’t miss out on visiting the numerous restaurants in the Andaman Islands, which will offer you a sense of their culture.
