Relish plain dosas, noodle dosa, chilly paneer dosa, palak paneer, pav bhaji or the most famous dilkhush which is a combination of chutneys along with crispy cabbage, capsicum, and cheese.

3. Ashok Vada Pav — When they say you can survive a day in Mumbai on just Rs. 10, they bet on Vada Pav. There are so many versions of it ranging from Rs. 5 to Rs 120. Ashok Vada Pav at Kirti college (which also was the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s college) serves the best authentic Vada Pav. This place also serves chura pav, a dish very specific to Mumbai.

4. Giriraj khichdi & kadhi — Kandivali’s Mahavir Nagar lane is the hub of amazing food in stalls. Khichdi is comfort food which is not only healthy but also fulfilling. Giriraj khichdi serves four types the authentic Kathiyawadi, Dal khichdi, Punjabi and Manchurian khichdi with Gujrati and Punjabi kadhi, at just Rs. 60.

5. Bun Maska & Chai — There is not just one specific place to find this sweet bun layered with salty maska, but you can get a brilliant bun maska and chai at most Irani restaurants. This is one 4’o clock food which most Mumbaikars crave for, to go through the rest of the day. It is filling and satisfying.

6. Dancing Dabeli — As good as it is to eat, it is also fun to watch the process of making it. Kapil, the stall owner in Andheri East is a big-time Mithun fan who entertains his customers with moves from Disco Dancer while making amazing dabelis. Just for Rs. 15, you get a potato masala garnished with onion, peanuts, and sev in a bun with a dancing show. What more could one ask for?

7. Ram and Shyam Chaat stall — This lip-smacking chaat stall in the bylanes of Santacruz West serves all diet items and some diet savories as well. This legendary stall started by two brothers has been intact from the last 58 years still serving the same quality of food. Pani Puri, Sev Puri, Ragada Patice and chaat are a few bestsellers here, and if you plan to come on a weekend — plan early. Most items will be sold out, and there could be a long wait too. If you are lucky, you may also find Bollywood stars tantalizing their taste buds here a well.
